WHO WE ARE
The Research and Training Center in Innovative Techniques of Applied Mathematics in Engineering “Traian Lalescu” (CiTi) is organized within the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, established to develop and promote innovative techniques of applied mathematics in engineering through five research directions and four project domains.
CiTi is open to students from bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs from all types of faculties, with the aim of developing and stimulating student research, as well as scientific collaboration among relevant institutions both nationally and internationally, based on bilateral partnerships, agreements or national and international projects.

About Traian Lalescu
A remarkable personality of the Romanian school of mathematics and engineering, founder of higher education institutions and a patriot in the true sense of the word, the biography of Traian Lalescu is a dense one, concentrated in far too few years of life – only 47.
During his lifetime, Traian Lalescu published numerous scientific articles and books in various fields: functional equations, trigonometric series, mathematical physics, mechanical geometry, algebra, and the history of mathematics.
The “Traian Lalescu” Competition has a long tradition in Romanian education. It was first organized in 1962 and experienced an interruption between 1989 and 1996. Since 2008, also benefiting from the support of the “Traian Lalescu” Foundation, the competition has been organized at the national level.
